Writing is a personal love of mine! I desired a program that
would help me pass that love on to my girls. "The Writer's Jungle" is an excellent resource for instructing a parent on HOW to teach writing while ENJOYING it.
It was a financial
investment at the outset, but this notebook
allows me to keep my girls writing for several years. The ideas also enable me to tailor our writing assignments to any unit we are
currently studying in history/science/geography. The author advises going through the full editing process with only a few writing assignments each year, which can remove a lot of pressure from both the parent and the student. This writing method makes the
student's edited or "published" work even more significant, and really
helps to feed a continual love for writing.
Within the last month, our 3rd-grader has written a "Coronavirus
News" article for current events, and a report on Benjamin Franklin, and we
had zero tears! I let her add photos and artwork, and she was SO excited with
the way her projects turned out! "The Writer's Jungle" has been a perfect fit for our family.
