Elementary Character Training Resources

Last year, I decided that we would keep Bible stories for evening devotions with Daddy, and focus on character training during our home school's "Bible Time".  We have thoroughly enjoyed studying God's Word and applying it to our lives in this way!  You can find a few of our "Bible Time" curriculum choices listed below:

Little Lads & Ladies of Virtue
By Kathy Morrissey

Uncle Arthur's Bedtime Stories
By Arthur S. Maxwell

Indescribable - 100 Devotions About God & Science
By Louie Giglio

A-Beka Character Development Cards Set

What do I love about each of these resources?

"Little Lads & Ladies of Virtue" teach children the definitions of various character traits, and provide three "I will" statements and one Bible memory verse for each trait.  These are EXCELLENT!

The short devotions found in "Indescribable" are amazing.  What a wonderful way to teach science facts and apply Biblical truth at the same time!  Our family chooses to look up the verses in the KJV.

"Uncle Arthur's Bedtime Stories" are thought-provoking, interesting, and beautifully illustrated.  We skipped a handful of these stories, either because they were too mature for our girls or because they did not line up doctrinally with our family's beliefs.  Overall, a very wholesome resource.

It is my opinion that the "A-Beka Character Development Set" is a must-have for any preschool or kindergarten.  The large, colorful illustrations help young ones comprehend what a variety of character traits look like in daily life.  Bible verses, short stories, and/or descriptions are provided on the back of each card.
